Race-car drivers may have the most glamorous vocation, but many folks find ways to make money while driving a car. Taxi drivers, delivery people and driving instructors are just a few of those who have found ways to make money behind the wheel. In some cases, you can be paid for taking your regular commute to work by adding advertising to your car.

1. Become a cab driver. This may seem an obvious driving-related career, but many people overlook the freedom driving a cab can give you. Taxi drivers can work for a separate company or start their own business with as little as a car and a license. Some couples own their own cab company and take turns driving so that one parent is always home with the children.
2. Put advertisements on your car. Some companies will pay for ad space on your car, if your daily commute takes you to areas in which they want to advertise. Of course, this means your car is permanently marked with the advertisement no matter where you go. Marketing companies look for people who commute through the areas they want to market, so the longer your commute, the better your chances of being chosen. If possible, work directly with the company instead of paying for a list of companies that want to advertise.
3. Become a driving instructor. Students everywhere need practice driving. Student cars usually have a special brake on the passenger's side for the instructor to use in case things get out of control. You won't be behind the wheel, but you will be driving for a living.
4. Deliver products. More and more merchandise is being delivered directly to homes and businesses. Although food delivery may be the most prevalent area, delivery workers are needed for overnight mail services, messenger companies and home-care providers. Your salary will come from delivering the products, but the majority of your working time will be spent behind the wheel.
5. Find a sales job. Sales is a face-to-face profession that requires you to meet directly with your clients. Salespeople who specialize in home and business equipment (like restaurant supplies and copy machines) spend a good part of their day driving to sales calls. Some salespeople spend so much time in their cars that they invest in portable computer and printer equipment to use while on the road.
