Fundraising Ideas In Canada

Fundraising Ideas in Canada

Fundraising is one way to help out a local school, church group, sports team or make a substantial donation to any chosen charity. In Canada, people have come up with creative ways to raise funds for a wide variety of different charities, groups and causes. The more creative the idea, the more success it seems to find.

Craft and Cookie Sales

Hold a craft or cookie sale at your local school or church. Popular among schools and community groups in Eastern Canada, venues are provided for little or no cost. It takes little time to prepare for these fundraisers by finding supplies to set up the venue and people to donate the items to be sold for the fundraiser. Generally, these types of fundraisers have a high profit margin for the sponsoring as their costs are low and the items sold are donated.

Sell Merchandise

Choose a product to sell by a company that has a fundraising program. A number of companies will donate a portion of the sales of certain products to the sellers. These companies provide an array of products that buyers order without paying in advance. Bulk orders are placed when the fundraising period comes to a close and the products distributed to the buyers, who pay the fundraising group at that time . The group raising funds then pays the company for the product. The fundraising group is essentially making a commission on the sales. This fundraiser is popular among youth groups and schools and the sales are generally made to family members and friends.

Sponsored Marathons

Organize a run or marathon. Participants seek seek sponsors to support them through fixed donations or pay by the kilometer. The funds donated by sponsors make up the proceeds of the fundraiser. Marathons take place all over the country now in support of many causes and are run by local sports clubs and charitable organizations alike. If the event is large enough, you may be able to garner additional funds through local businesses that pay to have their names and logos on the banners and other promotional material.

Bottle drives

Have a bottle drive. Municipal and provincial governments encourage all Canadians to recycle plastic and glass bottles. Most people find it to be a nuisance, making bottle drives a lucrative fundraiser. Bottle drives can be held at any time of year, and all it takes is a little promotion before hand. These fundraisers require the use of multiple hands and large capacity domestic vehicles in order to succeed, but if well-planned they produce good profits.

Car Washes

Get a local business to sponsor a car wash by providing space and water. Car washes are a popular fund raiser in coastal areas. Owners must frequently wash their cars or risk having rust spots and other issues associated with pricey repairs. Most car owners are happy to have their car washed at a fair price with the proceeds going to a worthy cause or charity.

Auctions

Having an auction is a great fundraiser when there are a wide variety of goods to be sold. Neighbors, local business owners or corporations may be willing to make small donations of items to help make the auction a success. The biggest challenge in creating a successful auction is finding a suitable venue and advertising to bring in bidders. Advertise ahead of time, solicit donations of products and find someone to serve as auctioneer.
