Get A Vendor'S License For Minnesota Novelty Ice Cream & Candy Sales

To get a vendor's license in Minnesota for novelty ice cream and candy sales, be prepared to fill out paperwork and pay fees. You will also have to submit plans for your business to ensure you have proper facilities for manufacturing and selling food items. The specific forms you fill out and which fees you pay depend on whether you are a permanent or seasonal ice cream and candy vendor.

Instructions

1. Visit the Minnesota Department of Health's Food, Beverage and Lodging Establishments Licensing and Plan Review website (see References).

2. Click a category under "Special Licensing" that applies to your business type. You may need to read each category to decide which business type yours is. For example, a seasonal temporary food stand is where you operate at any one location for no more than 21 days.

3. Read the requirements for plan submission on the webpage for your business type. Each requirement differs according to your business type. For example, food carts must submit an intended menu, information on water supply and a proposed layout.

4. Click the "Plan Review Application" link to download a PDF for your business.

5. Fill in the application and send it in with the appropriate fee to the address listed on the application. You must complete the application and send it in at least 30 days before construction begins on your food service business.
