What Does It Mean To Be Picked As A Student Ambassador

Student ambassadors play an important role.

You may have seen notifications or received correspondence from your learning institution requesting student ambassadors. If you apply for this role and succeed in being chosen as a student ambassador, certain expectations will be required of you.

Duties

According to the University of Alaska at Fairbanks, student ambassadors volunteer their time to help fellow students around the school. Some of the duties include assisting with new student tours and orientation, answering general inquiries from the student population and liaising with college management on student affairs and advocacy.

Qualifications

Learning institutions have different criteria that must be fulfilled before being selected as a student ambassador. For example, Buffalo State College says that you must have excellent speaking skills and enthusiasm for promoting the school, and enjoy interacting with people.

Benefits

Being a student ambassador boosts your resume by showing that you've been a volunteer and have gained leadership skills. You also get the opportunity to interact and network with school faculty and your fellow students.
