Write a Cover Letter to Book Reviewers

If you have written a book and want publicity by having a third party review it, you need to send a copy of your book to prospective reviewers along with a proper, convincing cover letter. A successful cover letter to a book reviewer includes several basic elements.

Instructions

Write A Cover Letter To Book Reviewers

1. Choose publications whose readers might be interested in the subject of your book. Begin each letter with the appropriate salutation. Address your reader as "Mr.," "Mrs." or "Ms." It is better to err on the side of being too formal, rather than too informal.

2. Tell the reviewer the name of your book, its main subject, and why it would appeal to readers of the publication. Be enthusiastic but professional.

3. Describe any credentials, awards and /or experience that make you an author worth reading.

4. Ask to have your book reviewed. Use a professional tone and manner when making the request.

5. Sincerely thank the reviewer for taking the time to consider your book. Sign the letter with your name and contact information.

6. Mention that you will contact the reviewer within a reasonable time frame, such as a week or two, to be certain the book was received. Send the letter along with your book or sample chapters to the reviewer.

7. Follow up and contact the reviewer at the appropriate time. Politely ask if the book is going to be reviewed. Whether the answer is "yes" or "no," be sure to thank the reviewer again for his time.
