Salary Of A Radio Promotions Manager

Promotions managers create advertising campaigns for company executives.

Radio promotions managers play an important role in creating business for companies by setting up advertising campaigns that often offer incentives to customers. The Bureau of Labor Statistics says 1,250 promotions managers were employed in the fields of radio and television broadcasting in 2010. Salaries for these promotions managers are generally lower than the average salary earned by all advertising and promotions managers nationwide.

Average Salary

Radio promotions managers earned an average salary of approximately $92,500 per year in 2010, according to the BLS. This salary was lower than the salary earned by all advertising and promotions managers nationwide who managed to bring home approximately $98,700 per year. The highest average salary was earned by those in the wholesale electronics industry where the average salary was more than $140,700 per year.

Pay Scale

Placing the average salary of these radio promotions managers within the larger pay scale for advertising and promotions managers nationwide can provide some additional context. Advertising and promotions managers earned salaries ranging from $41,480 to $166,400 per year in 2010, according to the BLS. The median salary for those working in this field was $83,890, with those in the middle 50 percent of the pay scale earning salaries between $56,820 and $122,570 annually.

Location

Location also provides some indication of what a radio promotions manager can expect to make each year, in terms of average salary. The highest paying states in which to work included New York, New Jersey, Minnesota, Massachusetts and Michigan, according to the BLS. Average salaries in these states exceeded $110,000 per year. Those working in Illinois averaged $74,050 per year, while those employed in Texas made an average of $79,690.

Job Outlook

Although the BLS projects 13 percent job growth for advertising, marketing, promotions, public relations and sales managers as a whole, this does not provide an entirely accurate picture for promotions managers. The bureau goes on to note that advertising and promotions managers will experience little to no job growth. The bureau indicates, however, that radio and television advertising and promotions managers may see a spike in demand for their services, but many of the individuals in this field will be self-employed.
