Account executives may spend a lot of their time on the phone communicating with clients.


The account executive is very important to any organization. She is also known as an account handler, acting as the main liaison between the company and the client. Routine tasks include meeting with clients, negotiating with clients and constantly making pitches to gain new clients for the organization. There are several types of account executive jobs.


Sales Account Executive


A sales account executive's main goal is to make clients interested in their organization's merchandise. Sales account executives will go through an extensive process of promoting, cold calling, prospecting, completing proposals, responding to customer sales needs and closing sales opportunities quickly and efficiently. Sales executive also encourage repeat sales by maintaining an ongoing relationship with the sales client.


Advertising Account Executive


Advertising account executives form the link between the advertising agency and the client. They represent both the agency to the client and the client to agency. They explain to clients how different types of advertising will benefit their business. They prepare promotional plans, sales literature, media kits and sales contracts. They also may give the client estimates of advertising costs, according to Onet.


Public Relations Account Executive


These professionals establish and maintain beneficial relationships between the organization and client. They also build relationships with government officials and media representatives. They may write press releases and prepare information to be used in media kits. They may also create speeches for their clients and set up interviews or other forms of contact for them, according to Onet.
