Promote Your Ebook

Technology is making it easier for authors to get published.

The hard work is done -- you have finally finished your eBook. It's been sent to the editor, corrections have been made and the final eBook cover has been returned. Now you are looking at your finished product on your computer hard drive and wondering what to do next. You want to sell it, but to do that you must promote it. Promoting your eBook is not hard -- it just takes a little time and attention.

Instructions

1. Set up an author webpage. Word Press, Blogger, Weebly, Yola and Webs are all services that offer free packages for websites. Having an author webpage gives you a place to promote your eBook and connect with readers. You can use the website to showcase your personality and writing style. The website will allow you to post your thoughts, contact information and more. Fans will follow you and sign up for your web feeds to be notified of new posts. Use the website to hold contests for free copies or post free pages of your book to promote the book and gain readership. Leave your web link every place you have a presence, especially in forums and in your email signature.

2. Join in on social networking. Get a Facebook account for your book or use your personal account. Set up a "page," making it your author page, or a page specifically for your eBook. Share the page with everyone and use the Facebook widget creator to put a "like" widget on your website. This promotes your website, Facebook and eBook when sharing links and pages.

3. Get linked on other social networking platforms. LinkedIn, StumbleOn, Twitter and Pinterest are all places where you can gain publicity. LinkedIn can promote you as an author while doing the work of linking your eBook for you. With StumbleOn, you can share your website links and the links where your eBook is available for sale. Use Twitter to share links and network with readers and writers.

4. Set up an author site at GoodReads, link your book and have a giveaway contest. Connect with other readers and authors. Post blogs. Share your thoughts. The more readers can see your Internet presence, the more likely they are to buy your book.

5. Network every day. Actively participate in your social networking accounts every day. Treat this as if you were the marketing agent and this is your job.

6. Sell everywhere. It is not enough to just have your eBook for sale at Amazon.com. Offer your book for sale at Smashwords, Barnes and Noble, Borders, Fictionwise and other eBook stores.
