Graphic design companies help polish product appeal and marketability.
Whether based in one office, or hundreds, whether online, on plastic cups or up in lights -- designs, graphics, branding and logos are all around us, but who, exactly, are the designers behind the brand? Two, perhaps more familiar, names of graphic designers are Harvey Ball, who created the iconic black and yellow smiley face, and Milton Glaser, designer of the "I (heart) NY" shirt. But who are the top graphic design companies?
Chase Design Group
American graphic designer Margo Chase had initial intentions of delving into the world of animals and biology until graphic design swooped her off her feet. In 1986 she founded the company Chase Design Group, whose staff has gone on to work for such companies as Dreamworks, Disney Consumer Products, Fox Searchlight Pictures, Hard Rock Cafe, Madonna, Reebok, Starbucks, Universal Pictures and much more.
Interbrand
Hailed as the worlds "leading brand consultancy" by its website, Interbrand started in 1974 and now houses about 40 offices worldwide. Says the Interbrand official site, "We're not interested in simply being the world's biggest brand consultancy. We want to be the most valued." A snippet of Interbrand's client lists showcases names such as AT&T, Canon, Dunkin' Donuts, McDonalds, Knorr and Wrigley, to name a few.
Landor
With over 20 offices across the world, Landor was founded by Walter Landor, who had originally founded Industrial Design Partnership. "It's why a FedEx envelope gets opened before anything with a postage stamp," totes Landor's website about its brand design power. Landor has gone on to create logos and branding for Crest 3D White Whitestrips, Coors Light, Evian, FedEx, Frito-Lay, YWCA and hundreds more.
Electric Pulp
Created in 1996, Electric Pulp is a web design company that has worked in the education, nonprofit, financial, recreation and retail aspects of design. Some of its clientele include Mscape for Hewlett-Packard, Stephen Colbert and Ford Fusion.
Pentagram
Pentagram is a design company that delves into the world of books, exhibitions, packaging, signage, architecture and interior design. Founded in 1972 in London, Pentagram now has offices in San Francisco, New York, Berlin and Austin. Pentagram's portfolio consists of familiar names such as Citibank, New York City Ballet, Saks Fifth Avenue, Ruby Tuesday and more.
Chermayeff & Geismar
Chermayeff & Geismar began in 1958 as a design firm and continues on as such. Clients include, but are not limited to, Vagina Monologues, A&E, National Geographic, IBM Ultimedia and NBC.
