Create A Free Website To Promote Songs

In today's musical landscape, it seems like all musicians have a website to promote themelves. For musicians just starting out, however, there often isn't enough money to hire someone else to build a website, let alone host it. But this doesn't have to be a problem. There is an abundance of resources for people who want to create a website to promote their songs. Many sites are free and offer not only web hosting but website design templates, making the process simple enough for anyone.

Instructions

Building a Website to Promote Music

1. Determine what songs and other content you want on your site.

2. Think about whether you want to host your songs only on your site or if you'd like to use additional resources like YouTube to host them. If you opt for this, you will not only have your music in two places where audiences can be exposed to it, but you will also have a built-in HTML creator, because YouTube offers HTML code so people can host videos from their own site.

3. Assemble your website content in a file folder on your computer. You'll tap this later as you begin to upload the material onto your site.

4. Brainstorm how you want your site to look and what you want it to offer your visitors. While this might change somewhat depending on what website templates are available, you should still have some idea how you'd like your site to look thematically. You should also decide during this session if you want to monetize your site with affiliate program ads or Google ads.

5. Write down your site ideas.

6. Find a free website service. There are many out there; some of them even have templates so that you don't have to worry about designing the look yourself. However, many also offer fledgling designers the chance to do their own design. If this appeals to you, look for a site like Weebly.com, which allows you to add your own HTML. Here are a few sites to get you started:

7. Take a look at all the possible templates that a potential hosting site has to offer. While you're doing this, consider the information you came up with in your brainstorming session. You should also keep in mind whether or not you can host ads to make additional money on your site.

8. Select a template for your design. Many of these sites are user-friendly and have step-by-step instructions on build the website.

9. Upload your music files onto YouTube, if you've opted to do this as well. You can create videos to accompany your songs by using a free online media site, such as One True Media.

10. Build your site, following the instructions on the host website. Add the content that you saved in the file folder on your computer. If you opted out of YouTube, you'll want to make sure your music files get uploaded according to the instructions provided on your host site.

11. Promote your website via YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and other social media sites.
