Parties & Promotion Ideas

Invite a local or national celebrity to entice others to come to your party.

Event planners and promoters have the job of getting the word out about parties and events and enticing people to come. Promotions are a way to do just that. There are a variety of ways to promote a party and persuade people to come. The more buzz you generate, the more crowded your event will be.

Social Media

Social media is a way to spread the word about your party through viral marketing, or word-of-mouth marketing. Create an event page for your party on all popular social media sites, and invite everyone in your social network on the site. Set it up so that those people can also invite their social networks and so on. Give details about the party, such as time, date, location, entertainment and cost. Inviting even just a few dozen people you know can quickly turn into hundreds or even thousands of guests.

Discounted Tickets

If your party has a cover charge, consider offering free or discounted tickets as a way to get people in the door or help you spread the word. For example, you can offer free admission to anyone who brings five other people to the party. Or, offer discounted prices to the first 50 people who arrive, which entices more people to come early to the party to establish a good crowd. You can also give away party-related merchandise to generate interest in the event.

Hit the Streets

Another way to get the word out to the locals about your party is to promote it heavily on the streets. Ask friends to help, or offer free admission to anyone willing to help with street promotions. Print fliers and posters, and hang them in all public areas near the party location. Also, attend similar events and pass out small hand bills promoting your party.

Themes

Themes are another popular way to generate interest in your event and give the party a unique feel. For example, some people might be more interested in attending a costume party than a party without a theme because it gives them a chance to wear a costume and see others in costume. Or, you can use a color as your theme, like music business mogul P. Diddy's annual white party, when everyone dresses in white and the room is filled with white. Create a theme to make the party more fun.
