Ways To Sell Specialty Merchandise Offline

Most people look to Ebay or Craigslist to quickly sell their specialty merchandise online. Sometimes this is not a viable option or the fees are too steep. There are a number of ways in which you can easily sell your specialty merchandise offline.

Flea Markets and Yard Sales

Sometimes the cheapest and easiest way to sell specialty merchandise offline is to rent a booth in a flea market or throw a yard sale. A yard sale requires more effort, such as setting up tables, putting out signs and placing an ad in the paper. A flea market handles your marketing by attracting people to your booth at a set time and location each week. Generally, you pay a fee to rent a table to display your wares in the flea market.

Consignment Shops and Antique Stores

A bigger retail store, usually an antique shop, may enable you to consign items in its store. The owners of these stores sell your items for you and give you a percentage of the profit. Sometimes you simply deliver your items and other times you must rent a booth and set it up yourself. This is a great option if you do not have the time to sit at yard sales or flea markets. Call your local antique stores to see if this is a viable option in your area.

Arts and Crafts Fairs

Arts and crafts fairs travel the United States and set up shop each weekend in a new town. This is a great way to see different parts of your state or region of the United States. The publicity is done for you, but you have to travel to different locations and set up your tent at each location. The weather can make or break you in these situations and it can be quite miserable. Also, you have to find lodging if you are going to be there for more than one day. This can get quite expensive quickly. Consider this option if you plan to sell your specialty merchandise as a full-time job.
