Recover From False Accusations

False accusations are charges levied against a person with no facts to support them. However, even though the accusations are proven false, they can still cause a lot of damage socially, financially and emotionally to the person accused. Once it's been shown that the accusations are false, you can't just let them lie.

Instructions

1. Seek criminal charges against the person who brought the allegations. If someone files a false report, knowing that the accusation is false to the police, that's a serious crime. Making sure someone else is punished for bringing false allegations is one way to make sure the issue is settled.

2. Sue for civil damages. If the false accusations cause hardship and problems for you, such as lost wages, injuries and damage to your reputation or public image, then you have the right to sue for the allegations being leveled. You will need to prove that the action was taken on purpose, and you will have to show directly how the false allegation has damaged you. If you lost your job, lost work, were injured or your business was damaged by the claims, then you need to produce evidence of this.

3. Publicize the fact that the allegations were false. Talk to newspapers and radio shows, television reporters and anyone who will help get the word out about the ruling of the court. It's not always enough that you are declared not guilty, you need to make sure that the community is aware of the facts and that any lingering doubt in the court of public opinion is put to rest.
