Junior executives
perform a wide range of office tasks.
A junior executive assists a company's top executive by performing administrative duties. Junior executives work in a wide range of industries and take care of responsibilities that top executives rarely have time to complete.
Duties
Junior executives greet clients, schedule appointments, answer phones, take minutes at meetings, type letters and file reports. Some even handle bookkeeping or billing tasks, as well as those related to updating company websites or making travel arrangements for their superiors.
Skills
Junior executives almost always need to be accomplished typists with a basic understanding of computers. They need to be motivated, organized, professional and able to follow the instructions of the most important people in their company.
Qualifications
Most junior executives typically need at least a little experience as an administrative assistant before being hired to work directly under the top executive. Most are required to possess no more than a high school diploma.
Prospects & Earnings
Employment of executive administrative assistants is expected to increase by 13 percent during the 2008 to 2018 decade, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The BLS also estimated that these workers earned a median annual salary of more than $40,000 as of May 2008.
