Sell Handmade Jewelry In Unconventional Places

Make friends with local merchants who can sell your jewelry.

Making your own jewelry can be a fun and relaxing hobby, but it can also turn into a lucrative business. Many people are looking for more than cookie-cutter designs when they buy jewelry and you might find that the homemade necklaces, earrings and bracelets you create are in high demand. But turning that jewelry hobby into a business requires some out-of-the box thinking and marketing ideas.

Instructions

1. Talk to the owners of local flea markets and farmers markets about setting up a booth to sell your jewelry. The people who run these venues are often looking for handcrafted goods to supplement the yard sale items and produce they typically attract.

2. Work with local merchants to get your jewelry into their stores on a commission basis. Art galleries and upscale boutiques are a natural fit for handmade jewelry, but you might find that other shop owners are interested in setting up displays as well. You may be able to sell your handmade jewelry in places such as the local coffee shop, the nail salon down the street and the spa on the corner.

3. Set up a small display of your handmade jewelry at work if your boss allows it. If you cannot set up a sales display at work, try wearing a few pieces of your jewelry each day and chatting with co-workers who inquire about it.

4. Watch the local newspaper and event guides for upcoming festivals. Talk to the organizers of those festivals about setting up a small booth to sell your handmade jewelry. Print business cards ahead of time and hand them out to the people who stop by your booth.

5. Use your social media presence to market your handmade jewelry. Post pictures of you and your friends wearing the jewelry and perhaps a link to your website or other sales venue.
