Promote Your Books On Amazon Kindle

Amazon Kindle is an ebook reader introduced in 2008 that gives Kindle owners access to thousands of electronic books. In conjunction with the Kindle, Amazon introduced the Digital Text Platform, which allows any author with a book to sign up and sell his book on Amazon. This gives self-published authors the chance to make their work available to the Kindle customer base. Setting a book up for Kindle is easy to do and can result in substantial sales that would have otherwise been unavailable.

Instructions

1. Visit Amazon and locate the "Features and Services" heading located on the lower left of your screen. Click on "Selling with Amazon" and choose the "Publish on Kindle" option. Sign up for your own Digital Text Platform account. This will be the account you use to upload your books, price them and monitor your sales.

2. Format your manuscript as you want it to appear for the Kindle. Page margins should be between 1 and 1.5 inches all the way around. Set the paragraph indents at .05. Line spacing should be 1.5. These dimensions aren't set in stone, but they work well for display on a Kindle. Use a web-friendly font. Times New Roman set at 12 points is optimal. Save your work as a Word file or an HTML file. Don't number pages. This will happen when DTP formats your book upon upload. Check your manuscript thoroughly before you click the "Publish" button. Your promotional efforts will be wasted if customers purchase a book that is full of errors and then leave you poor reviews.

3. Log into your Digital Text Platform account and follow the procedures for uploading and pricing your book. On the "My Shelf" tab, click the book you want to upload. Fill out all of the information regarding your book, including your name, pricing information and a cover for the book. After you provide all of the information, upload your book to the Digital Text Platform. It take two or three days before a book is live in the Kindle store. Pay special attention to the product description. This is one of the most important aspects of promoting your book on Kindle. An interesting book description, along with an eye-catching cover, work together to entice readers to purchase your book over the thousands of others available.

4. Include a link on your personal website to the Amazon page where your book is listed. In your Kindle book listing, ask anyone who purchases the book to leave a review. Reviews may help sell more copies of your Kindle edition. Spend time in the Kindle community forum, communicating with Kindle owners and promoting your book to them. Speaking with the buyers directly is an effective way to help market your Kindle ebook.
