Promote A Small Business Quickly And Cheaply

Make a lot of money when you promote your small business

You have a new small business and now you want to know promote your small business quickly and cheaply. These are many ways to do just that. You do not have to spend a lot of money and it does not have to take time.

Instructions

1. Promote a small business quickly and cheaply by first having a big grand opening.

This is really much easier than your would think. First go to your local Chamber of Commerce. Their job is to promote commerce. They will usually give you a free ribbon cutting. Most of the time they will put it in their newsletter or even the local newspaper If there is not a chamber of Commerce for your local area, then go to the nearby chambers of Commerce or even one that represents a broader category you belong to (for women, Hispanics, etc. You can also have your own ribbon cutting and grand opening. Put out a large sign. Invite local business owners, city representatives, the newspaper, friends, family, everyone. Make it a big deal. Have refreshments. Take pictures. Give an incentive to everyone there to do business with you. This could be special coupons, samples, etc. for everyone inside your business that day.

2. Promote in the local newspaper.

You do not have to pay for ads to be in most local newspapers. If you invite them to your grand opening chances are good you will be in there. Call them. Often they will interview businesses and may even profile your business in it. Think about giving away a portion of your proceeds to a local cause for a day or a week and ask them to feature it in an article. More than likely they will do it for the cause.

3. Promote a small business successfully by networking.

You have to promote yourself to promote your business. You do not want to be in people's faces about it, but there are ways to do it the right way. Join local organizations (chamber of commerce, clubs, committees, etc.), go to functions, have business cards on hand, and introduce yourself. Be visible.

4. Use good cross-promotional techniques.

Talk to other local business owners. They could have businesses that are similar or very different from yours. The idea is to think about how they could mesh in advertisement or how you can promote each other's business. Start this to have it in place when your business first opens. Promote before it even opens!

Chamber's of commerce often have meetings for members. Attend those meetings and make offers to other business owners. It could be something simple like sharing add space or having fliers in each others stores. It could be going in together on a special event that promotes both businesses.

5. Give customers incentives to return and to bring their friends in to your business.

There are many ways to do this. Ask for their phone and address or email at the point of sale. Give them 5% off for filling out a card and joining your mailing list or phone list. Or have an email list. Let them know about future things they might be interested in. Offer them a special incentive after x number of visits or dollars spent. Give an incentive to returning customers if a new customer comes to your business on their recommendation. Host an incentive day for new customers or for returning customers.

6. Have a website.

You can get a website for free. Have your website up and running when you open for business. Promote your new opening on it. Promote sales and new items. Give people an incentive to go into your business after they visit the website.
