Promote A Boxer

A boxer without a promoter likely won't go far.

Boxing is a business as much as it is a sport. For a boxer to take his career to the professional level, serious promotion is required on top of any physical ability the boxer might have. Boxing is a one-person sport but it is not a one-person business. Many individuals combine to create the team that helps a boxer's career reach the next level. One important person in any professional boxer's career is the promoter who knows get the boxer the recognition and attention he deserves.

Instructions

1. Create a business plan. Like any other business venture, boxing promotion requires careful planning. Small businesses without a plan are more likely to fail and there is no reason that a boxing promotional venture would be exempt from this fact.

2. Formulate a strategy for promoting your fighter in the most specific way possible. Plan to either promote your boxer in a specific weight class, or create a plan that involves moving up in weight classes. Concentrate your promotional plan on a specific region with which to begin. This allows your boxer to build a reputation in an area before you branch out.

3. Research all the licenses and permits required to hold fights in the district that you and your fighter or fighters are targeting. Ensure that you have any required licenses and permits in place before you start trying to promote any type of a fight.

4. Schedule fights in venues that are accessible to fans. If you put on a fight in a remote venue that isn't known for good fights and that people can't get to easily, you'll end up with small crowds that won't advance the reputation of your fighter.

5. Push for more exposure for your fighter each time he wins another victory. Look for larger venues and opponents that have a bigger profile. Wins help build your fighter's reputation but you must put him in front of larger audiences to capitalize on that exposure.
