Jobs To Get With A Degree In Marketing

A Marketing degree opens numerous career doors.

A degree in Marketing opens the door to a business-related job that includes all the careers associated with the inception, development, advertising, financing and sales of items or services. Nearly all universities and most private colleges offer degrees in Marketing, from a basic diploma or certificate to a postgraduate degree in specialized areas of Marketing, such as Finance. With a degree in Marketing, you have many options when choosing a job that suits your educational background.

Instructions

1. Enter the retail industry in sales or management with an Associate's Degree in Marketing. Other than a 1-year program that offers a diploma, an Associate's Degree is the lowest level of education required by many retail firms for upper-level positions. Since this industry also hires non-degreed individuals, an Associate's Degree will allow you to enter the workforce a step above the rest, both in pay scale and in responsibility.

2. Move into the banking industry with a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Marketing. With an emphasis on business growth, a Marketing major easily transitions into a job as a banking loan officer. A Marketing degree is desirable when applying for a job in the commercial loan department of a bank. With your business education, you are knowledgeable in the formation of workable business plans and financing.

3. Look for a job that exercises your creative side in advertising. Marketing majors seek positions in advertising agencies where they function as copywriters and layout specialists. In large advertising agencies, account executives often hold Marketing degrees.

4. Seek a position in the public sector when you hold a degree in Marketing. Local communities seek individuals with marketing experience to serve in their Chamber of Commerce or in the Industrial Development sector. Since every community needs a marketing plan to attract new business and industry, your degree will open doors.

5. Work for the government in the areas of Commerce, Consumer Affairs, Social Security or International Trade with a postgraduate degree in Marketing. These careers often require an advanced Marketing degree and you may need to complete further testing to determine your aptitude and security clearance level for some positions, such as the Securities and Exchange Commission. Many government jobs seek individuals with a Marketing degree.
