The democratic technique is a high-trust system between managers and employees, in which employees make the decisions in their departments.

Managers must make their intentions clear on how the organization will function. Autocratic managers supervise their departments closely, either in person or through the department leaders, and make sure they work according to the predetermined plan, putting emphasis on the results. Paternalistic managers must be ready to adapt their management strategy according to employee feedback, but try not to disrupt basic functions. Democratic managers try to predict the outcome of decisions made by others and warn when a decision seems to be mistaken.
