Making it to the top of the American political heap is not about honesty and being an all-around good person. Unfortunately, it’s more about who you know, how much money you have and how visible you’ve been in the political circuit. You can get elected president of the United States as long as you follow some steps the minute you’re old enough to walk.

1. Run for everything—and win. This includes president of your home owners association, president of the local community board and president of your kindergarten class project. 5. Marry into a political family. Unless you are already related to the Clintons or the Kennedys, make your best efforts to become related by marriage.
6. Squash anyone in your way. This should be easy by now, since you already have decades of presidential experience, millions of dollars and political pull.
