Haircutting Secrets For Men

The word fashion is typically associated with women, but that doesn't mean that men shouldn't also participate in finding and developing their own style and types of expressions. Hairstyle and haircutting is one venue that can represent a man's personal style and which, if done wrong, can give you several weeks of a bad look. So it's important that you make sure you know a little bit about haircutting before you start. Does this Spark an idea?

Know Your Hair

It's important that you know your hair before you get it cut. If your hair is thin or thick, nappy or smooth, receding or spreading along your neck and cheeks, you need to have a good sense of your hair, what it can do and what it can't do before you even think about getting it cut. This is similar to dressing well; if you don't know what sort of body you have, then you can't hope to dress it in a way that looks good.

Cut Frequently

A good haircut is like a good physique; you have to keep it maintained. As such, just because you get a good haircut one week doesn't mean you can just leave it be. Go back to get your style trimmed up every few weeks, and at the very longest once per month or so. Getting it touched up will help you maintain your look much more easily than letting it grow out completely and asking the barber or stylist to deal with an overgrown tangle of hair.

Find a Good Barber

A good barber is worth his weight in gold when it comes to getting and keeping your hairstyle. If you know men who have similar hair and style to you, ask them where they get their hair cut. People who have a good barber or stylist are usually more than willing to pass on the name and location to keep business coming in and to spread the word about the good service they receive.

Product

While it's entirely possible to get a good haircut that looks great, many times a little extra touch is what you really need. The market is positively glutted with gel, mousse and a variety of shampoos and conditioners, all of which might be just what you need. You should, however, experiment with various products that are designed for your type of hair, which is another reason it's important to know your hair.
