Customize Letter Opener Wedding Favors

Put the letter opener in specially designed favor boxes.

Decorative letter openers serve as wonderful wedding favors that usually last a long time. Guests will remember your special day long after it's over whenever they use their letter openers, customized with your monogram or wedding details and theme. Wooden and sterling silver types are some of the popular choices for wedding souvenirs. You can opt to have them engraved or designed in bulk by wedding favor suppliers, or just purchase plain letter openers and personalize them yourself.

Instructions

1. Purchase wooden, plastic or metal letter openers with round or rectangular charm handles. The openers usually measure 5" x 1 ½" and feature handles with smooth or grooved rims. Make sure the charm has an inset center for fitting your personalized sticker labels later.

2. Download free software from Online Labels (see Resources) for designing and printing sticker labels. Get the exact measurement of the opener charm insets and create your stickers accordingly.

3. Customize the stickers by using your wedding colors and theme. Create a simple design with your initials or use a pre-designed monogram to make it uniform with other wedding items. Or choose to have more elaborate designs, such as a bride-and-groom silhouette, floral patterns, the couple's picture, or whatever fits your theme. Opt to add other important information such as the couple's names, wedding date and venue.

4. Get sticker labels in the specific size you need and print your personalized labels. Print twice as many as the available letter openers, since you will need to stick them on both sides of the charm handles.

5. Invite your bridesmaids for a do-it-yourself night in your home, and enlist their valuable help in putting together your wedding favors --- applying the personalized sticker labels on the letter openers, placing each favor in its appropriate box, and putting the finishing touches on the box. Serve some food and chat the night away. This is also a good time to bond with your best girls before you tie the knot.

6. Use ribbon, twine or beaded string in your wedding colors to decorate each favor box. Add flowers or other adornments as you desire, as well as a "Thank You" tag.

7. You can also choose to do away with the individual boxes altogether. Instead, prepare a large wooden box, fill it with sand, and stick the favors into it. Guests can simply grab one as they leave the party.
