An Arbitron National In-Car Study found that "In-car audiences are a vital adverting consideration" for U.S. businesses. People who are driving or sitting in cars are captive audiences for cars and trucks that are equipped with print ads. If you're looking for a new way to promote your business, product or service, mobile advertisements, also called outdoor media, may be your solution.


Car Magnets


Anyone can turn his automobile into a mobile advertising unit with a car magnet. This is a large magnet, the size of a piece of paper (usually between 8.5 by 11 inches to 11 by 17 inches), that you apply to a car's door. There are many online printing services that offer these magnets---you can have one or more printed with your business or product name, a phone number and a supporting image. This is an ideal choice for a temporary auto advertising promotion because you can simply remove the magnet when you're done. Other options like car wrapping and billboard installations are more permanent.


Your Call to Action


Consider the results you want to achieve from your automobile advertising promotion. When a passerby sees your advertisement on the moving vehicle, do you want him to simply take note of the message for later reference--for instance, the next time he visits a retail store--or do you want him to take action immediately with a call or web visit? If it is the latter, be sure to craft a call-to-action message that encourages the reader to act immediately. This could be a discount offer, such as 20 percent off when he calls by a certain date, or an open-ended question. like "Would you like to learn save on your energy bills starting today?"

When you're trying to get the word out about a product or service with an auto advertising promotion, the more cars you have on the road with your message the better. Ask your family members, friends, and associates to apply your promotional advertisement to their cars. Offer a payment for the help and ask each driver about his driving habits during an average month to gauge how often each of your ads will be displayed to the public.
